Bears Sign Former Chiefs RB Knile Davis

The Bears running back room just got a little more crowded.

Knile Davis has struggled to gain any footing at this stage of his NFL career despite a successful tenure with the Chiefs. Davis has jumped around the league, including a short stint with the Steelers just last season.

Considering his level of play in Kansas City, it makes all the sense that he’d sign with Chicago, which currently features former Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy as their head coach.

The Bears depth won’t be questioned in the backfield, as they already feature the formidable duo of Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen. Adding Davis to the mix just makes this group even more dangerous.

As a proven veteran Davis has a slight edge over some of the younger options in the Bears backfield in the race to solidify a roster spot. At the very least, Nagy is giving his former back an open try-out for some other team that might be short options at running back.

Davis is a serviceable option for Nagy and co., especially with the injury to Cunningham.
