After Atlanta Falcons safety Damontae Kazee took a cheap shot on Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton that got him ejected on Sunday. Today, he’s finally come out with a public apology.
Newton was in the midst of a quarterback slide when Kazee came racing in and delivered a brutal helmet-to-helmet shot that not only caused Newton to lay there in considerable pain, but also initiated a fight between the two teams.

It was most likely just a result of the play happening way too fast and Kazee making a mental error, but it was still a classy move of him to come out and apologize to his divisional rival.
While Kazee was ejected from the game, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Kazee would indeed receive a fine but would not be suspended.

These are issues that the NFL takes very seriously, as they have tried to improve their efforts to protect the quarterback as much as they can the past couple of seasons.
Luckily for Newton, he was able to finish the game without suffering a major injury.
