For the rest of Tom Brady’s career and no matter how much he hates it, Jimmy Garoppolo will always be lurking in the shadows in some way. Even now, we are seeing the criticism Brady is receiving for missing OTAs.
Would Jimmy G do that? We’ll have to check back in and see 14 years from now and five Super Bowl titles later.
According to a former teammate of Brady’s and a current one of Garoppolo’s, he seems confident that Jimmy is right on par with Tom.
Cassius Marsh says Jimmy Garoppolo would routinely shred the New England starting defense in practice https://t.co/Qpx2smDGJG

The follow-up to Cassius Marsh’s comments is simply, “is it really that hard to shred the Patriots defense these days?”
No offense to Nick Foles whatsoever, but New England’s defense was successful in making Foles look as if he was Joe Montana, Brett Favre and Peyton Manning rolled up into one person.
That’s not to take anything away from Garoppolo either. He could not have gotten off to a better start to his career going 5-0 including a stellar performance against the Jaguars’ top-rated defense last season.
But Marsh took it a bit further, per Eric Branch of SFGate.com:
“[Garoppolo] looked no different than when Tom was on the field. He’s a much better athlete than Tom. He’s super disciplined and works hard. I’m very happy to have him as my quarterback.”
One last one:

Bold words, and one that Brady will be able to use as clipboard material. Hopefully, it fires him up enough to show up to offseason workouts one of these days.
Only time is going to tell how this rivalry plays out. Brady has a massive headstart and one hell of a resume to live up to.
For Jimmy G, he has time on his side.
