When you initially look at the list of captains for the New York Giants for this upcoming season, names like Eli Manning, Landon Collins and Zak DeOssie shouldn’t surprise you.
What’s surprising, however, is that the other three captains are players that have been on the team for a few months, with Nate Solder, Alec Ogletree and Michael Thomas all getting the opportunity to wear the “C” for their respective units.
The Giants captains are:
Offense – Eli Manning and Nate Solder
Defense – Landon Collins and Alec Ogletree
Special teams – Zak DeOssie and Michael ThomasSo 3 players acquired this offseason are already captains. And Collins becomes a captain for first time in his career.

The fact that these three players are already captains shows that the Giants were correct in bringing these guys in, as they all have brought veteran leadership and a presence that was severely lacking from last years team.
This is Manning’s 12th season as a captain and DeOssie’s eighth, and Ogletree was a captain last year for the Los Angeles Rams, so this role isn’t anything new to him.

After a messy 2017 season that the Giants and their fans definitely want to forget, the team hopes that these newcomers can help the tenured veterans change the culture and bring the team back to its winning ways.
This will be the first time that the Giants have more than three captains since 2014.
